Bettom.com – Responsible Gambling

We take our customers and our social responsibilities extremely seriously at Bettom.com. Our products are designed for your entertainment and enjoyment and we are committed to providing a secure, fair and socially responsible service. We want you to enjoy our products safely and responsibly. We have put into place a range of measures to ensure that everyone who enjoys our service can do so in as safe a way as possible.

We are dedicated to helping our customers enjoy gambling and our products are intended to deliver an entertaining and fun experience. Responsible gambling is a serious matter and if you feel like this is becoming a problem help is readily available. Please establish safe gambling limits for yourself and stick to those limits.

If you feel you may have a problem with your gambling, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you prefer gambling to spending time with your family, friends or other ways to have quality time?
  • Would you steal, lie or sell valuable assets to get money to gamble?
  • Do you ever miss work or university so that you can gamble?
  • Do you feel gambling is a way out of a boring or unhappy life?
  • Have you ever gambled away all your money away, and been unable to afford food or transportation home?
  • Do you lie or hide the amount of time or money spent gambling?
  • Have you ever been reproached for gambling too much?
  • Would you feel depressed if you were to lose your money through gambling? Would more gambling provide the only relief?
  • Do you feel an urge to recover all of your losses right away when you happen to incur a loss due to gambling?
  • Do you respond to arguments, frustrations or disappointments with desire to gamble more? Is gambling driving you depressed or suicidal?

The more positive answers you give to the above questions, the more serious a gambling problem you may have.

Tips for betting sensibly:

  • Treat your betting as an entertainment expense.
  • Only gamble with money you can afford to lose.
  • Know your limits, and be clear about them before you start betting.
  • Remember to take a break.
  • Don’t gamble when you’re upset or depressed.
  • Do something else to occupy your free time.
  • Don’t chase losses.

However, problem gambling is difficult to spot and we are not trained professionals in the treatment of problem gambling.

If we suspect that you may have a problem, we reserve the right to contact you and, at our sole discretion, to suspend your account and block access to our products if we believe you are in need of help because of a gambling problem.

In the event you are contacted we ask that you cooperate with our Social Responsibility team, we have your best interests at heart.

Setting Deposit Limits:

This facility enables you to limit the amount of money that you are able to deposit online into your account on either a 24 hour, 7 day or 30 day basis.

These amounts may be revised downwards at any time but any increase can only be implemented after a minimum cooling-off period of 24 hours following on from your request as well as requiring an additional confirmation from you after this time.

Our Customer Services team will be happy to provide any further information required but are unable to override limits set by you.

You are able to set or amend your Deposit Limits by visiting the Gambling Controls section and then Deposit Limits when logged into your account. Our customer service team can also set deposit limits on your behalf, please contact live chat or [email protected]

Setting a casino loss limit:

This facility enables you to set a loss limit by defining the maximum amount you could lose when playing any of our casino games and then define the time period this applies to e.g. 24 hours, 1 week or 1 month.

You are able to set or amend your Casino Loss Limit by going to My Account, Gambling Controls and then Casino Limits when logged into your account.

Please note the following:

  • Loss limits take effect immediately once set for the first time – they run from the date and time chosen by you and are then automatically reset and begin again e.g. If you set a loss limit of £100 per week on Monday at midday, losses will be tracked from that date and time with you being prevented from losing more than £100 on any of our casino games until the following Monday at midday.

The loss limit would then be reset for the following week and will not take into consideration any winnings or losses made during the previous week or any other prior to this.

  • If you choose to decrease an existing limit you have set, the change will take effect immediately.
  • If you wish to increase an existing limit you have set, you will need to return to this page after a minimum of 24 hours and take positive action to reconfirm you wish this change to take effect.
  • Any change in limit you request will act as a ‘reset’ of any previous limit set. The new limit will not take into account any winnings or losses made prior to you confirming this.

Our Customer Services team will be happy to provide any further information required but are unable to override limits set by you.

Take a timeout:

A timeout lets you take a short break from using your account with us – choose from 24 hours up to a maximum of 6 weeks. If you choose to take a timeout, any unsettled bets will remain active with any account balance remaining unaffected. Once your timeout period ends, your account will be available to use again automatically.

To take a time out, go to the Gambling Controls section and select the ‘time out’ option or speak to one of our customer service team via live chat or [email protected]

Self-exclusion:

If you feel a time-out does not offer you the level of support you need, then you may wish to consider self-exclusion. We offer a self-exclusion option that can be easily implemented by a customer’s request. If you would like to self-exclude yourself from accessing our products, please either contact Customer Services or choose to self-exclude using the link below. You will need to specify the period of time you wish to be self-excluded for, ranging from six months to five years. The process and implications of self exclusion are listed below: If you request this via Customer Services, an agent will reply and ask you to confirm your request. This is done to ensure that the request was not submitted through someone who gained unauthorised access to your account.

Once the self-exclusion period begins you will not be able to access your account. Any funds in your account will be withdrawn and returned to you in accordance with our terms and conditions.

During the self-exclusion period we will make all reasonable efforts to ensure that you are removed from our marketing materials. This does not mean that we are able to ensure that you will not be exposed to untargeted and general advertising campaigns.

At the end of the self-exclusion period you may contact us and request that you are granted access to our gambing products. You must request this change in person by telephone or email.

Kindly note, that only upon clear ‘self-exclusion’ request will your account be suspended as per the agreed time. Otherwise all accounts are in status ‘closed’ and can be reopened any time upon customer’s request.

Blocking gambling payments with your bank:

Many banks now offer the ability to limit spending on gambling. If you feel that you are spending too much money on gambling, you may want to consider blocking gambling payments with your bank.

They do this by blocking your bank account or debit card which stops the account from being used for gambling transactions.

The Gambling Commission has published information here on which banks offer this service and how to add a block.

Self-assessment:

If you are unsure whether or not you may have developed a gambling problem, Gamcare has a simple test on their website to help you assess if your gambling is causing a problem. The assessment will give you a series of statements and ask you to select how much the statement applies to your gambling behaviour on a scale of 1 – 10.

At the end of the test you will be presented with a breakdown of how gambling is affecting your life and will give you personalised recommendations for your next steps.
